Stop and smell the roses!!!! (I love my family)

I haven't posted in a while. I've been so busy and tired. Things are always rush, rush! You wake up in the morning and start your day, but there is nothing ordinary about this. First you start your morning with the alarm clock ringing in your ear!!!!!! Ok I hear you! I shut it off for five minutes and then it goes off again.  Boy I hate to get up. Ok I'm rushing out the house because I'm running late, only to face traffic! ughh! I hate traffic, oh and don't even think about taking the side roads, because its traffic there too! So I usually talk to my husband on the phone while I'm sitting in traffic. I enjoy talking to him, but my whole conversation is I'm sleepy! and he listens to me yawning and screaming at the car in front of me!
Ok I have made it through the day; only to face traffic again! ughh! I HATE TRAFFIC! ok, ok, enough about traffic.
My point is life will have you caught up in everyday things, that we sometimes forget to stop and smell the roses! Literally, I love, love, flowers. I would rather have flowers than a card for any occasion. I always buy them and put them every where I can find a empty spot.
I enjoy walking through the door to see my family, they all ways keep me on my feet and make me smile. Hello mother, is what I hear when I walk through the door! If my husband is there when I make it, its ha baby, how was your day?
My family is the one thing that makes me smile at the end of a busy day, then as I look around my house I'm reminded of how blessed we are and then I see flowers, wow they're like a big smile. Ok I'm ready to go to bed and start my day all over again.

Look What Arielle Rocked!!

My girls love fashion.  I like to sit back and watch them create their fashions.
Being from the South, I was raised to always keep your hair, nails, and clothes on point. You never, never stepped out without being presentable. No matter where you were going;(grocery shopping, work, running errands) you stepped out presentable. This was the rule in my household growing up.

We raised our girls the same way. So when they go out; the rules apply. This is what Arielle rocked on her way to work. These pictures were taken about a month ago.

Labor Day

Today was a good day, we slept in a little and then we decided to go and watch a early movie. I know by now you heard about the movie "The Help". This is one powerful movie you just have to go and see. Actually it was my second time seeing this movie. All of the ladies in the movie did a great job. I smell a "Oscar" for Minnie. Any way this movie will have you choked up with sobs and tears. Please take Kleenex with you, you will need them.  It touches your soul and guts like no other movie have.  I encourage everybody to please go see this movie.
I made it home and relaxed and enjoyed the rest of the evening. My back was hurting but took a muscle relaxer and headed for the kitchen and made some delicious stuffed creole mini sweet peppers. I will share the recipe  later. Hope everybody had a good Labor Day and week end.

Happy Birthday Arielle

Today is Arielle's birthday!!!  Wow it's amazing how time flies. I can remember being so scared when I was rushed to the hospital. I didn't know what to expect and how to react, thirteen hours later at about 9:35p.m. at night; there was my beautiful baby girl. She was the most precious baby ever. All the pain was worth was it.
I purchased a peach cake instead of the original white or marble cake. I wanted the cake to have some flavor. Along with that we had strawberry swirl ice cream, delicious!!! I cooked a birthday dinner which is one of her favorites; pasta with shrimp and chicken buried in mushroom soup and milk and sprinkled with cheese and green onions. It brought a smile to her face.

So I took a couple of pictures as she was headed out the door. I wish my oldest baby all the luck and good fortunes. "Happy Birthday" we love you!

The Girls Audition

Today Lori and Aimee auditioned and interviewed for Barbizon Modeling Agency. It went very well. The owner of the Barbizon Modeling Agency interviewed both of the girls at the same time. She was very impressed; they had to do a commercial and be really energized. Boy I tell you they were pumped and excited and all smiles. All went well. We are so proud of our girls.

Arielle's lemon coconut cake
Tomorrow we find out if they made it or not. Waiting sometimes can be tortutre, but I think I'm more nervous than the girls. So to calm my nerves I'm going to have a slice of lemon, cocunut cake and a cup of International chocolate coffee. That always seem to calm my nerves. Oh and maybe I will clip Sunday's coupons.

Mommie's Night Out!!!

This blog is mainly about my daughters, but from time to time I will blog about about myself or my husband.
Last night( Friday) my husband and I had a date night. We do this at least once or twice a month, so he decided last night was our night.
My day started out at the hair dresser; this is where I go every Friday to get my hair done and to unwind . After that I went home and prepared supper for my girls, and I got all dolled up for my honey.
We then headed out for a night on the town. First we went and ate dinner at this restaurant called Johnny Rockets. Its a restaurant where they serve old fashioned burgers and malts. It was stepping back into the fifties. The waitresses wore the hat and the 50's outfit; it was really cute and hip.
my husband had a baccon double cheese burger with a banana chocolate malt. I had a patty melt with a orange cream soda malt. If I had to rate the food and service, I would have to give them a 'A'.
While we were eating all of a sudden; I noticed that the music was getting really loud!!! out came all of the waitresses. They were standing in place and bouncing up and down. The music is getting louder and then they start singing the words along with the music and they're dancing, twirling, and spinning. We were like WOW!!!!. It was like being at a live show. It was very entertaining. We really enjoyed it.
This restaurant is located right next to the AMC movie theater. The restaurant sold movie tickets there, so we were able to purchase tickets at a $2.00 dollar dicount for each ticket, a pretty good deal. So we walked over to the theater to watch 'The Planet Of the Apes'. It was a very good movie, we really enjoyed it. The theater was packed, we didn't get very good seats, but we managed.

After the movie we walked around outside,  where they had a lot of acivities going on. There was a set up where the water was dancing and it had pretty colored lights shining through. If you like you could get in the water and play or cool off. As we walked we noticed several shops that sold bracelets, purses, shades and this and that. Every body seem to be enjoying themselves and for me my night was beautiful. I was with the man I love and that meant the world to me.

Happy Birthday Mommie and Grandma

Today is my mother and my girls grandmother's birthday. She is no longer here with us today, God called her spirits to dwell with him on October 25, 2006. I can say so many good things about my mother. One thing I will say if you had a mother that was anything like my mother consider yourselves lucky. She loved everybody and she did what ever she could to help you.
She gave a lot of her self to her church, school, and the sick. She loved to bake cakes, pies, and banana nut loaves. I remember she would have my girls shelled the pecans that she put in the loaves and I would spray or butter her pans and smash her bananas. Oh! and she made the best okra and tomatoes ever! Her greens were always the best.
You know I was fortunate to inherit some of her recipes, like her lemon coconut cake(yummy)!!! She always bake this around the holidays.
I get so emotional when I think or talk about my mother. It still hurt so bad, sometimes I just wish I can talk to her one more time. My girls were so lucky to have such a great grandmother. She helped to raise them and they spent so much time with her. They remember some of her recipes and they remember to always pray at night before bed. You see my mother use to have us pray and worship before bed and when we woke in the morning. She passed this on to my daughters as well and all of her other grandchildren.

Words cannot express how we miss her but I know she is no longer suffering and I have the pleasure of having all the memories and her words of wisdom in my heart. "Gone but never forgotten."

Getting Ready For College

Getting ready for college is on a whole new level compared to getting ready for high school. There are new challenges and pressures to deal with and oh! more money to pay out. But we are not ready to let her go off yet. So we said she will stay with us and do one year of college at home; and maybe we will let her attend the college of her choice.
We are very proud of our daughter, she graduated a year early and while in high school she was enrolled in dual enrollment with a partnering college. So she already have college credits under her belt.

Time pass so quickly: Enjoy your time with your children: before you know they are living a life of their own.

Cajun and Creole Flavors

"Cest Ce Bon" Let the good times roll!!! I was born and raised in the South and food plays a big part of our culture. I love to cook for my family. I taught my daughters to cook Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. I have to say they really know their way around the kitchen.
Being from the South I learned how to cook gumbos, etoufee, po-boys, and anything containing seafood. We would go to the park and have a feast on crawfish, shrimp, potatoes and corn.
"Fleur De Lis"

Seafood Potato

Green Salad
Mardi Gras is a time to really celebrate. Everybody have their own mardi gras party leading up to "Fat Tuesday" and then its one big party. I love the atmosphere, the culture, and the food. There is no place like home. I'm often home sick for home and that's when I pull out the gumbo pot or cook up something that will make me feel like I'm back at home. I surround my self with things that remind me of home as well. I have "Fleur De Lis" symbols all through my house and when I go home to visit I always bring seasonings and whatever I can back with me.

Couponing 101

I know every body  heard about the show "Extreme Couponing". Well yes I got the fever too! I use to coupon years ago but never to the extreme that I do now. I have coupons everywhere in my house. Of course I had to get organized with my couponing. At first it was overwhelming but I recorded all the shows and watched them over and over and over again until I finally got my system. I have forced my daughters to watch the shows with me as well. Arielle now have the system down packed as well, she knows what to look for and I always bring her with me to the store. We both have our system in the store. I give her half of the coupons that we will be using for that store and she takes off with her buggy. And I take off with mine in hand and before we get ready to check out we meet up and check out our goodies and head for the register. I have to tell you its like a high, because you wonder if you made any mistakes in your calculations, you have to keep a eye on the register and before you even starting checking out, your  cashier have to know what she or he is doing, and hopefully your cashier is in a good mood.
Aimee and Lori are catching on as well. I'm always telling them you have to save money, and spend wisely and I think that this is a great start. We have saved so much money; its a lot of work but it is definitely worth it! I say to anybody that want to save money, try couponing.

A day off? Not for Lori!

Lori is the middle child. She is very quiet and don't say too much. But you can always find her doing her nails or putting different outfits together. She have a very busy schedule and not a lot of time to relax. But that's ok I'm always telling her "hard work will pay off later". She want to open a chain of hair salons and later when she finish Cosmetology school, she plan on getting a degree in Business.

She finished high school early and went straight to work on her dreams. We are so proud of her and can't wait until all of her dreams come true. Join us for her journey!
